Snowflake Video Productions is the innovation of filmmaker Leslye Abbey. Her worldwide adventures have given her the opportunity to capture and present diverse expressions of cultural identity. Her career as a psychotherapist and Cultural Social Worker in such places as the Oglala Sioux Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, combined with her photographic background, has given her video camera very intimate access to the human heart and spirit.

In her effort to educate and enlighten people about other cultures, Leslye Abbey has traveled the globe and discovered stories that need to be told. She traveled to India and Nepal in 1998 to chronicle the lives of Tibetans in exile. The compelling feature length documentary that resulted, "Dharamsala: Tibet in Exile", went on to win the Humanitarian Award at the Long Island International Film and Video Expo. The following year (2000) she won Best Documentary with the feature "Bob's Rolling Reefer" at the same festival. Currently, Snowflake seeks funding for 2 new documentaries; the first about the Cajun people of Louisiana, whose Atchafalaya river basin lifestyle is threatened by both modern technology and environmental pollution. The second, is about Fadiga, a leprosy colony in Senegal, West Africa.

Leslye Abbey's work has been exhibited on numerous occasions, including a slide presentation on the woman of Mali, West Africa, at the Nassau County African American Museum.
